Spreading Light to All Corners of the World

Welcome to Shining Light NFP! . We would like to thank YOU for all your love and support for what we do at SL, and may God bless you and your family for supporting your community.

What is Shining Light, NFP?

St. Paul tells us that we are all baptized into one body of Christ, that there may be no division in the body, but that the parts may have the same concern for one another. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it.

You may know of someone, or maybe even yourself who has a crisis in their life at the present time; such as loss of income or job, unplanned pregnancy, victim of dmoestic violence, or addiciton to drugs and/or alcohol. It is an endless cycle.

We are a Christian nonprofit organization, serving West Chicago and surrounding communities by providing the tools that are necessary for individuals to become self-reliant members of society. At Shining Light, you are our priority and we ensure and promise to help you and/or your family with the benefits and support for a substantial and profitable life.

Our Mission

To develop self-reliant, contributing members of society by providing educational and outreach services to individuals and families in the West Chicago area.

More Than A Band-Aid

Most social service programs offer quick fixes to address immediate needs and do not diagnose and treat the underlying problems that produce chronic poverty.

Shining Light breaks the cycle of poverty by taking a long term, holistic approach with personal mentoring.

Today, we offer workshops and support groups with a focus on: developing self-esteem, financial literacy, and job training. Also, we serve a large immigrant population in which we provide financial/education classes while assimilating them into the community.

Just us our Mother Mary did great things as a single mom, we empower young moms to do great things also.

Since SL now resides at St. Mary Catholic Church in West Chicago, We have the opportunity to partner with other great service organizations such as the Legionnaires of Mary and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in which we refer our clients for computer and management classes.

To learn more, please read our history or contact us today or visit our facility at 140 Oakwood Avenue in West Chicago.

Donate Today
